Eye health

Eye health checks and visits for a problem

A red or irritated eye, something in the eye and regular checks are part of what we do. The doctor examines, explains and, when a problem needs surgery, refers you. We don't do eye surgery.

What to bring

  • A list of your medicines and eye drops

  • Your glasses and contact lenses

  • Your medical insurance card and your vision plan card

  • Notes on when the problem started

Eye emergencies

When to call us or go to the emergency room right away

  • Sudden vision loss

  • A curtain or shadow over your vision

  • A sudden shower of floaters

  • An eye injury

  • A chemical splash

  • Not sure?

Call our office and tell the front desk what happened.

What happens at the visit

Results vary from one person to another. The doctor tells you what the findings mean for you.

  1. 01

Step 1: Tell us what you noticed

The doctor asks what changed, when it started and whether it comes and goes.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A careful check

We check the front and back of the eye.

  3. 03

    Step 3: What we find

The doctor explains it in plain words and tells you what's next.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Follow-up or referral

Some problems need another visit with us. Others need surgery, and we refer you with your records.

How it is billed

One part of a visit can go to your vision plan and another to your medical insurance.

  • A routine exam

    Billed to your vision plan.

  • An eye problem

    Billed to your medical insurance.

  • If you pay yourself

We tell you the cost before we start.

Common questions

Can you see an eye infection?

The doctor examines the eye and tells you what is going on and what to do. If you need surgery, we refer you.

Do you do eye surgery?

No. If you need surgery, we send you to a surgeon and send your records.

Should I come in or go to the ER?

With sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision, a sudden shower of floaters, an eye injury or a chemical splash, go to the emergency room right away. For anything else, call us.

Is something about your eyes worrying you?

Call us and tell the front desk. We tell you how to proceed.
